Research Geophysicist, Program Lead, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Craig Ulrich
Mr. Craig Ulrich is a Research Geophysicist and Program Lead for the Sustainable Groundwater Management Research Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He has more than twenty years of experience as a geophysicist and geologist, with expertise in applying geophysical methods to characterize hydrogeologic properties and understand subsurface processes. Over the past decade, his research has focused on water resource management, contaminant fate and transport, enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), and permafrost and landscape change in high-latitude environments under a changing climate.
His current research focuses on advancing the understanding and optimization of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) strategies across both natural and built environments. Through the integration of geophysical monitoring, hydrologic characterization, and numerical modeling, his work seeks to improve groundwater sustainability, enhance water supply resilience, and support long-term water resource management.
