Latin America and Caribbean Region President

Ana Maria Goncalves

Ana Maria Goncalves is a Geological Engineer with a Master’s degree in Earth Sciences, an MBA in Hydrocarbon Management, and a Specialization in Senior Project Management. She has 20 years of experience as a Structural Geologist in Exploration. She currently serves as Head of Studies and Projects within the Exploration and Development Management Department at YPFB Chaco S.A.

From 2016 to 2018, she served as Vice President of the AAPG Young Professionals (YP) Committee in Bolivia. She was subsequently elected AAPG Delegate for the Latin America and Caribbean Region (LACR) for the 2018–2021 term and later served as Secretary and Treasurer of AAPG LACR from 2021 to 2023. She served as Vice President of AAPG LACR during the 2023–2025 term and currently, in 2026, serves as President-Elect of the AAPG Latin America & Caribbean Region (LACR).

She was recognized with the AAPG LACR Outstanding Visiting Geoscientist Award in 2019 and received the AAPG Global Distinguished Service Award in 2021. In 2022, she was honored at the SPE Women in Energy (WIN) Awards in the Women in Oil & Gas – Latin America & the Caribbean category, in recognition of her leadership and contributions to the energy industry.
