Michael Steinhacker
Michael joined Wood Mackenzie in 2004 as an upstream consultant in the Houston-based office. Since 2014, Michael has been managing the Upstream consulting practice for the Americas. Since joining the company in 2004, he has worked a number of consulting projects, including opportunity screening, global unconventional hydrocarbon studies, corporate and strategic advice and more recently working with NOCs and governments. Clients have ranged from US independents to Majors and National Oil Companies. Michael developed Wood Mackenzie’s Unconventional Gas Service, which benchmarks commercial and emerging plays across the globe, along with directing our Future of Shale Oil multi-client study. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Michael worked as an energy analyst at the Energy Information Administration (EIA), US Department of Energy in Washington, DC. At EIA, he worked in the Energy Markets and Energy End-Use division, covering European and Latin American countries. He holds a MA in International Relations from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service, in Washington DC and BA from University of Rochester, in New York.
