Peter Carragher
Peter Carragher, Managing Partner at Rose Subsurface Assessment, LLP, is a highly experienced leader with a career spanning over five decades in oil and gas exploration and quantitative risk analysis. Beginning his career with Amoco in 1974, he has evaluated and drilled prospects across nearly every major hydrocarbon province in the world. Early leadership roles included leading the Basin Analysis Group for Worldwide New Ventures, the Prospect Quality Team for Amoco’s global portfolio, and Manager of the Upstream Portfolio Analysis team. Following the BP / Amoco merger, he became a key figure with leadership roles including Head of Discipline for Worldwide Exploration at BP from 2003, followed by VP of Geoscience and Exploration, overseeing global resource identification and exploration strategy. Since 1990, Peter has been instrumental in developing and applying advanced exploration risk assessment techniques and portfolio management processes. Peter has led Rose Subsurface Assessment as Managing Partner since 2014, where he has continued to apply his deep expertise in risk analysis and subsurface projects to both Oil & Gas and CCS projects. His strategic insights and robust process design have consistently translated into improved business performance. He is also a recognized collaborator between exploration teams and seismic acquisition vendors, optimizing exploration budgets at the portfolio level. In recent years, Peter has designed a ground-breaking statistical framework for quantitative risk analysis for CCS projects, which he (and Rose) has transformed from theoretical foundations to software-enabled implementation. Today, he leads the transformation of risk science into practical impact. The resulting proprietary software platform integrates stochastic simulations of cost and chance, along with visual reporting, bringing high-grade analytical capability to regulators and commercial clients.
