Rene Jonk
Rene Jonk has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry, working across exploration, appraisal and production in onshore, shallow water, and deep-water settings across unconventional, clastic, and carbonate play types.
He held technical leadership roles with both ExxonMobil and Apache and is currently the director of ACT-Geo, a company specialized in consulting and training within the realm of subsurface characterization and prediction.
Rene holds an M.Sc. from the Free University of Amsterdam and a Ph.D. in petroleum Geology from the University of Aberdeen, where he also holds an honorary professorship at the School of Geosciences. He teaches classes in sequence stratigraphy, play & prospect risking and assessment, trap & seal evaluation, and petroleum system characterization.
