Stephanie Vargas

Stephanie Vargas Ortega is an Associate Director and Team Lead for Vantage Latin America & Frontier North America within S&P Global Energy, bringing over 13 years of upstream oil and gas experience. She leads a regional team responsible for upstream research, production and cost forecasting, and asset valuation across the region. In this role, she oversees the development of rigorous asset-level valuations that support strategic decision-making for clients across the energy value chain, while driving analytical excellence, collaboration, and talent development within the team.

With a background in reservoir engineering, Stephanie specializes in asset development planning and the integration of technical and economic analysis for upstream asset valuation. Her expertise spans mature, frontier, conventional, and unconventional basins in Latin America, with a focus on understanding the commercial, geological, and operational factors that shape upstream performance and investment potential.

Before joining S&P Global, Stephanie worked in reservoir engineering and technical evaluation roles, supporting reserves certification, field development planning, and asset performance optimization. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Universidad del Zulia, providing a strong foundation for her technical and commercial expertise.
