Kelly Brooks
Kelly Brooks is a Project Manager within the Coastal Erosion Planning & Response Act Program (CEPRA) in the Coastal Resources Division of the Texas General Land Office (GLO). Kelly joined the GLO and the CEPRA Team in 2016. Kelly received a B.S. in Geology from the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin and a M.S. in Geophysical Oceanography from Texas A&M College Station. Kelly worked in oil and gas exploration and 3rd party assess-ments of shallow hazards in the Gulf of Mexico post- Deepwater Horizon disaster before join-ing the GLO.

As a CEPRA Project Manager Kelly currently works with federal and state agencies, local coastal communities, and non-profits to promote and help facilitate projects and studies to combat coastal erosion and restore degraded habitat. Kelly’s current portfolio of projects in-cludes shoreline protection, beach nourishment, marsh restoration, bird island restoration, bor-row area identification studies, revamping the Texas Sediment Geodatabase (a joint geotech-nical tool created by the USACE and the GLO), and working in focus groups surrounding Multi-Use Conflict Policy for the interface of developing energy leases and restoration projects and sediment management.
