Shane Smith

Shane Smith, PG, is a Senior Principal Geologist with Fugro, leading geological and geohazard consulting services across the Americas. With more than 15 years of experience in marine engineering geology, he has supported offshore energy and marine infrastructure and development projects throughout North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean. His expertise includes site characterization, geohazard assessment, engineering geological modeling, sedimentological interpretation, and seabed risk evaluation for pipelines, foundations, ports, harbors, and renewable energy developments. Shane has led multidisciplinary teams integrating geological, geotechnical, and geophysical data to support safe and efficient project execution in complex marine environments. He brings a practical perspective on how geophysics, geology, engineering, constructability, permitting, and project risk intersect during marine construction and infrastructure development.
