Shuvajit Bhattacharya

Dr. Shuvajit Bhattacharya is a Research Associate Professor at the Bureau of Economic Geology, The University of Texas at Austin. Shuvajit leads the HotRock geothermal industry consortium and state-wide geothermal resource mapping in Texas. Shuvajit teaches a course on “Fundamentals of Geothermal Energy” at The University of Texas at Austin. Apart from geothermal energy, Shuvajit has spent more than a decade on oil and gas, and carbon and hydrogen storage research.

Shuvajit is the recipient of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists' J. Clarence Karcher Award (2022) and Gulf Coast Section American Association of Petroleum Geologists’ A.I. Levorsen Award (2023) for outstanding technical contributions.
