Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of British Columbia
Xiaolong Wei
Xiaolong Wei is a geophysicist and data scientist specializing in decision-making for mineral exploration. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of British Columbia, where he works on orebody knowledge and information-driven drilling strategies. Before joining UBC, he conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University in geostatistics and AI for subsurface modeling, following his PhD in Geophysics at University of Houston. His work brings together geophysics, geology, machine learning, and decision theory to improve exploration targeting, survey design, and drilling optimization for the discovery of critical minerals. He has worked on field exploration projects in Zambia, the United States, Canada, and Australia. He serves as Vice President of the Mineral and Mining Committee of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
