Zongquan Hu is a prominent petroleum geologist and expert in sedimentology, reservoir geology, tight sandstone oil, and shale oil and gas geology. As the Vice President and Chief Engineer at the Petroleum Exploration and Development Research Institute of Sinopec, his research since 2013 focused on understanding the dynamics and properties of tight sandstone oil and shale oil and gas geology, and significantly advanced the understanding of shale oil and gas reservoirs, leading to innovations in the exploration and extraction of these unconventional energy resources in China.
