HPC Society Panel: Is the "On-Prem vs. Cloud" Debate Still Relevant When AI is Growing so Rapidly?

It has been almost a decade since companies started to seriously debate the merits and demerits of running their workloads on a Public Cloud. By now, many companies appear to have embraced at least some of the computing, storage, and web-based tools that cloud service providers (CSPs) offer. Some have still not taken the journey, while others have gone and come back! CSPs with their extensive portfolios of AI development tools and pre-trained deep neural networks for voice, text, image, and translation processing, will play an even bigger role in the future. Companies can instantly leverage these capabilities in the cloud. As cloud-based AI vendors handle large volumes of data and traffic well, businesses can scale their AI solutions as needed, rather than having to settle for a one-size-fits-all approach. The panel will share experiences and thoughts on this topic, as it applies to the O&G industry.
