Maria Angela Capello

Dr. Maria Angela Capello is an international leader in geosciences, energy governance, and sustainability with more than 35 years of experience, widely recognized for integrating technical excellence with human-centered approaches to energy development. President of Red Tree Consulting, she has held senior leadership roles at PDVSA, Halliburton, and Kuwait Oil Company across Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East, shaping a distinctive perspective on responsible energy operations and sector revitalization.

A strong advocate for energy as a driver of sustainable prosperity and for bringing young professionals into geosciences, she serves on the Board of the American Geosciences Institute and co-chairs the UNECE Women in Resource Management initiative. The author of five books, she was published by UNESCO with Geosciences in Action: Advancing Sustainable Development.

Dr. Capello holds a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the University of Plymouth (UK), an MSc in Geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines (USA), and a BSc in Physics from Simón Bolívar University (Venezuela). She has served as Distinguished Lecturer globally for SPE, AAPG, and SEG, and is an Honorary Member of SPE and a Lifetime Member of SEG. She was knighted by the Italian Government as Cavaliere of the Order of the Star of Italy.
