Opening Session
Opening Session: Exploration — Dealing with Reservoir Complexities
Monday, 25 August | 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. | George R. Brown Convention Center
Over the past two decades, the oil and gas sector has added giant carbonate discoveries, giant and complex ultra deepwater turbidites, and basement reservoirs. Many of these challenge our technical and production capabilities. Additionally, recent giant discoveries have proven uneconomic due to difficult financial factors and reservoir complexities —in fluid and rocks. Moderated by Bob Fryklund, our expert panel will address the industry’s continued challenges with basin limits surrounding exploration and conditions. The engaging and dynamic dialogue will focus on how to better predict and develop complex reservoirs. We will also examine the roles of technology, data, and operations in the prediction and development processes. And you won’t want to miss the Featuring a welcome address from AAPG President Brian Horn and SEG President John Eastwood, followed by an engaging panel discussion.
