Ahmed Ismail
Dr. Ahmed Ismail has graduated with a PhD in geophysics from Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in 2003. After his graduation, he joined the Egyptian National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics as a researcher for one year before moving back the United States to continue his research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Missouri S&T. His research was focusing on seismic testing of bedrock integrity under Missouri roadways. After one year at Missouri S&T, he joined the Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) as a geophysicist leading their high-resolution seismic imaging program to support the geological mapping and groundwater exploration research in the State of Illinois. After seven years at ISGS, Dr. Ismail joined the multicomponent seismic group of the Schlumberger in Denver Colorado for four years focusing on developing the use of pure and mode-converted shear-wave in fractured reservoir characterization. Dr. Ismail started his academic career as a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University in 2016. He is currently teaching the Geophysical Exploration, Environmental Geophysics and Seismic Interpretation courses, supervising 3 PhD and 6 MS students. His research focuses on seismic-based characterization of reservoir fractures and geophysical investigations of complex aquifer systems, dams, landfills, and geotechnical sites. Dr. Ismail has published 50 peer-reviewed journal papers and abstracts.
