Assistant Professor, University of Toledo

Kennedy Doro

Dr. Kennedy Doro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at The University of Toledo, Ohio, USA. His research advances the use of geophysics for understanding soil and aquifer variability and the hydrological and biogeochemical processes that shape Near-Surface Earth Systems. His work spans hydrogeophysics, environmental geophysics, contaminated site characterization, and forensic and archaeological applications. He earned his B.Sc. in Geology from Delta State University, Nigeria, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Applied and Environmental Geosciences from the University of Tübingen, Germany. Before joining The University of Toledo, he gained international academic and industry experience in Nigeria, Germany, and Canada, including working as a project engineer and direct-sensing specialist with Fugro Germany.

He is a 2024 recipient of the United States NSF CAREER Award and the 2024 AGU Near Surface Geophysics Early Career Achievement Award. His research program has been supported by the NSF, U.S.-DOE, Ohio Department of Higher Education, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Sea Grant, AGU, SEG, and the Volkswagen Foundation. He is also a Co-Investigator on the DOE-funded COMPASS-FME project. Dr. Doro is committed to mentoring, interdisciplinary collaboration, and expanding global participation in geoscience. Through his research, teaching, and Science4Development activities, he works to connect rigorous geophysical sciences with societal needs in water, coastal infrastructure, agriculture, environmental monitoring, and sustainable resource management.
