Opening Session

Exploration: Shortening the Cycle from Idea to Production

Monday, 17 August | 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. | George R. Brown Convention Center

Currently, industry takes close to 15 years on average to generate an idea, acquire the acreage, drill the discovery well and then put it into production. The later stage is responsible for a growing problem of the gap between technical success and commercial success. Going from resource collector to resource converter is one of the biggest opportunities to increase reserves and revenues. It has begun to separate the “breakaway“ companies and the average ones. In looking at the steps in the exploration cycle where are the best opportunities to compress the timelines? What role will partnerships play?
